NAZI BOMBER
SHOT DOWN OFF COAST OF SCOTLAND LITTLE DAYLIGHT ACTIVITY OVER BRITAIN. NIGHT RAID ON BRISTOL. German air activity over Britain yesterday was on a very small scale, the 8.8. C. reports. Yesterday morning, a German bomber was shot down and fell in the sea off the north coast of Scotland. t Tim principal German target on Thursday night was Bristol. There were fires, but they were quickly brought under control. A church was gutted and a shower of incendiary bombs fell on an emergency hospital. The number of casualties was not large. Bombs were dropped also in the London area and in the south-east, south and south-west of England. VIGILANT WATCH LIMITS FIRES IN BRITISH TOWNS. < Received This Day. 9 a.m.l LONDON. January 17. Thousands of incendiary bombs and some explosives fell on a south coast town and started fires, only one of which was serious - and kept Jhe firefighters busy. All the others were speedily under control.
