QUEEN CARNIVAL

CAMPAIGN FOR ARMY CANDIDATE ATTRACTIONS NEXT WEEK. MEETING OF INTERHOUSE GIRLS. The campaign in support of the : Army Queen candidate. Miss Marion Holdsworth, is now in full swing. A most enthusiastic meeting of the girls' interhouse teams and choir was held last night to consider arrangements in support of Miss Holdsworth's candidature. including the swimming carniI val on Tuesday night and a grand street ; parade on Wednesday evening, prior to the Grand Air Raid Dance in the Municipal Hall. It was decided that each team should organise itself to work in the interests of the Army Queen candidate and the I team leaders agreed to form a committee to assist in the general effort. The next meeting was fixed for Monday night Entries for the swimming carnival on Tuesday evening close tomorrow with Mr. D. Costello. The carnival will commence at 7 o'clock. Special seating accommodation has been arranged for the public. Adults will be able to view the swimming by a payment equal to twelve id votes and children for half that number.

The grand street parade on Wednesday, prior to the dance, will * leave Wagg's corner at 7.30 o’clock. Those taking part will include interhouse teams. Territorials and Maoris. At the dance something unusual will be featured at the supper adjournment.
