Starting off with a win against the Westport pair. B. Jenkins and A, J. Green, 22-16. they scored again against, the well-known Spreydon player, W. Wardell. who had J. Hawatson as lead, 1915. After lunch Deare and Bremncr met H. Jefcoate and IL Benson (PapanuiL and lost to them by one point. 16-15. In (he last, game Deare and Bremncr were opposed by J. Hadley and R. Bond (Linwood), and went down 18-16.
On the Sumner green, G. H. and C. E. Claridge (St. Kilda) won three games out of four.
R. Haworth (Canterbury) playing with his son. C. A. Haworth (Wanganui) had only three wins, being beaten by the Auckland pair. H. Gribble and W. Ure.

C. H. Kettle (Nelson)* one of the surviving seven in the singles, had H. (I. Kingsland as lead and continued to show form, winning al! his games. Another surprise came when J. R. Smith 'Elwood), whose excellent play left him the only two-lifer in the singles, collapsed in the pairs. Partnered by E. J. Cooke, another of the last seven in the singles. Smith won his first game. 29-10. but then went down. 18-17 to 5. Wright (Thorndon). 18-12. to IL IL Hey tOpawai. and 20-10 to D Dewcastle (Dunedin). C.
