LIVERPOOL & MERSEYSIDE NO FIRE GETS SERIOUS HOLD. BRITISH FIGHTING PLANES IN ACTION. i By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright ~ (Received This Day. 11.5 a.m.) LONDON. January 13. Many raiders participated in last night’s long raid on Liverpool and Merseyside. High explosive bombs and many incendiary bombs rained down, hitting commercial and residential property. British fighters went into action. Public co-operation resulted in not a single fire getting a serious hold. The casualties included a number killed.
GERMAN REPORT.
A German communique refers to bombing in London. Manchester and Liverpool and says; "R.A.F. attacks were directed mainly against West Germany. The R.A.F. bombed several dwellings al Bethlehem Monastery, near Cologne and a Catholic home al Dusseldorf. Twenty civilians were killed and a number wounded.”
