MASTERTON SALE
KEEN MARKET FOR RAPE LAMBS. The* Associated Auctioneers report on their weekly Masterton sale held yesterday, as follows: —A medium yarding of wethers and rape lambs came forward, and was offered to a good attendance of buyers. There was much interest in the sale, as it was the first one of the New Year, and farmers were interested as to the values. The rape lambs which were the first of the season to be offered, met with a keen market, and good forward lines sold from 18s.. 18s. JOd., to £1; medium sorts. 16s. fid. to 17s. 6d.: woolly white faced wether lambs made from 15s. 6d.. IGs. 3d. to 17s. 6d. There was also ’a strong demand for small lambs, and these sold from 12s. fid. up to 15s. Wethers did not meet with the competition that they had done before Christmas, and showed a decline in prices on our late reports, four-tooths making 19s. to 19s. 7d.. to 19s. 10d„ and two-tooths from 18s. 3d. to 18s. fid. Fat sheep sold at par. wethers making from 235. to 245.. fat black faced wethers 225. 4d. to 235. fid., and fat ewes. 14s. to 14s. fid.
