CAR HITS POLE
v ' ONE KILLED & THREE INJURED. I | ACCIDENT' NEAR WAIPUKURAU. ißy Telegraph—Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU. January 8. A man was killed and his wife and two children were injured, one seriously, when a car struck an electric power pole on the main road 11 miles south of Waipukurau early tonight. Killed: Mr Baden Powell Palmer. Te Pohuc. aged 40. Injured: Mrs Sophia Rona Palmer, aged 36. injuries not serious: H.ndlield Palmer, aged three, serious injuries; Selwyn Palmer, aged six slight injuries. Mr and Mrs Palmer and their two children were travelling south along the main highway across the Takapau Plains when the car. driven by Mr Palmer, struck a Central Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board pole about 11 miles south of Waipukurau. At the point where the accident occurred the road is flat. Mrs Palmer and the two children were taken to the Waipukurau hospital by ambulance, and it was reported that though the injuries received by Hadfield Palmer are serious, those of Mrs' Palmer and her other son are minor, j An investigation into the cause of the accident was begun tonight by the; resident police constable at Takapau. |
