EKETAHUNA
, DISTRICT FARMS j SOME HEAVY HAY CROPS. I (“Times-Age” Special.) With the advent of the past three weeks’ hut weather, district dairy farmers are well ahead with the harvesting 'of hay crops, which in most cases are heavy. With the very noticeable decrease in the numbers of white butterflies and cabbage moths, root and rape crops arc more forward than for many seasons past. The sheepmen are also benefiting greatly from the dry spell as lambs arc nutting on weight and the first of the district’s drafts have been forwarded to the works. It is anticipated that these will kill out at good weights. Despite the heat of the last few weeks the pastures in Eketahuna and surrounding districts arc retaining their greenness very well, and in this respect compare more than favourably with the Manawatu and Wairarapa districts where the country is looking ven brown. Personal. Mr and Mrs H Palmer, Wellington, arc the guests if Mrs R, Thomason A tea. Miss Isla Pryde. New Plymouth, is spending the school vacation with her parents. Mi - and Mrs W. Pryde, Nireaha.
