FORMATION IN AUSTRALIA TANKS TO BE MANUFACTURED IN COMMONWEALTH. OUTLAY OF SOME MILLIONS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Dav, 10.20 a.in.) RUGBY, January 8. The establishment of an Australian armoured corps, at a cost of several million pounds, is announced in agency messages from Melbourne. Provision is eventually contemplated for one armoured division of the A.1.F.. comprising two armoured brigades and auxiliary troops. The production of tanks will be undertaken in Australia.

The scheme <s being carried out under the direct control of the Chief of the Australian General Staff It is understood that officers of the Royal Armoured Corps who have been associated with mechanised units in France will assist in training the new units.
