The death occurred at Woodville on Monday of Mr. John McPeak, at the age of 87 years.
Dr H. B. Bernoy, of Masterton. is at present spending a holiday nt Castlecliff. He will go into camp at Wanganui on Saturday.
The Hon. Adam Hamilton, member of the War Cabinet, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the interisland steamer express from Lyttelton.
Dr. O. II Frankel, who will inspect wheat crops in the Mannwatu and Wairnrapa districts for the Wheat Research Institute, arrived at Wellington yesterday by steamer express from the south.
Mr Hector Dempsey, who was for 29 years headmaster of the Central School, New Plymouth, died at Vogeltown. on Saturday. After his retirement in 1911 ho served during the Groat ’War as a temporary* inspector, and later was a member of the Taranaki Education Board for 13 years. Mr Dempsey was 88 years old Father J. 1.. Kingan. S.M.. BA. took up his duties yesterday at the Central District Mobilisation Camp. Trenthnm, as Catholic chaplain ‘attached to the Fifth Reinforcements.
