CASE DISMISSED
ASSAULT CHARGE AGAINST MASTERTON RESIDENT. i AFFRAY IN QUEEN STREET. ‘'The court has to take a serious view of these affairs You were both under the iniluenee of liquor but the case has not been proved. The Bench’s advice to you is to keep out of trouble in the future.” stated Mr R. Krahagen J.P.. j with whom was associated Mr. E. M. Hodder, J.P., in dismissing in the Masterton Magistrate’s Court this morning a charge against George O'Sullivan, labourer, aged 60. of Albert Street, Masterton of having assaulted John Cleaver, aged 77. also of Masterton in Queen Street, last night. On a charge of having been drunk ! in Queen Street. Cleaver was convicted i and discharged. The facts of the case were outlined briefly by Senior-Sergeant G. A. DogEvidence was given by Mr. H, Lethnby. Queen Street, that he saw O'Sullivan "rushing around Cleaver like a Dervish,” outside the Regent Theatre at 10 minutes to seven last night, when a tight took place, A youth. J Millward, stated that Cleaver approached O’Sullivan saying I’ve a pair of German fists you’d like to taste.” O’Sullivan pushed Cleaver 15 io 20 feet where he fell on the roadside Lengthy cross-examination of witnesses followed and the Bench dismissed the charge.
