WANGANUI v SOUTH TARANAKI. FAST SCORING. (By Telegraph—Press Association J WANGANUI January 4. Scoring 218 runs in two hours. Wanganui sensationally beat South Taranaki (by nine wickets) in a two-day cricket match which ended today. The match was a splendid demonstration of the fluctuating fortunes of cricket. South Taranaki made 320 in their first innings and dismissed Wanganui for 180. South Taranaki declared their second innings closed with 77 runs cm for four wickets, leaving Wanganui with two hours to secure 218 runs, which they did for the loss of one wicket.

The hero of Wanganui's second innings was H. Whiting, one of the opening batsmen, who scored a century in 48 minutes.
