ITALIANS SENDING REINFORCEMENTS BY AIR
But Failing to Turn Tide of Fighting
GREEKS STEADILY DEVELOPING THREAT TO VALONA
SUCCESSFUL AIR ATTACK ON ELBASAN
In Albania, Elbasan was raided on Thursday by the R.A.F. with considerable success, the 8.8. C. reports. Large fires were started and military building's were bombed. A Free French Agency message states that fifty large transport planes are now being used to convey Italian reinforcements to Albania, presumably because of the insecurity of the sea passage across the Adriatic. The reinforcements are not enabling the Italians to turn the tide of the fighting. Though much hampered by bad weather, the Greeks are pressing forward steadily in operations directed to cutting the road between Tepelene and Valona. Vigorous raiding by Albanians is reported behind the Italian front. The Albanian guerillas have cut roads and picked off dispatch riders and are stated even to have raided Tirana, the capital of Albania and another town.
