IN SHORT SUPPLY FRUIT PICKERS AND HARVESTERS Special.) The demand for fruit pickers and harvesters at the present time exceeds the supply. Raspberries are now coming into full bearing, and biack currants are still in full supply. Hay making and the harvesting of oats and barley on the properties of Messrs Borthwick and Feast are employing large gangs of men. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs J. E. Montgomerie, of Morison's Bush, motored to Patea on New Year’s Day to see their daughter. Sister Mavis Montgomerie, who is seriously ill in the Patea Hospital. Miss Montgomerie had been accepted for service overseas, but it is unlikely that she will be able to go now. Mr and Mrs G. S. Maloney, of McMaster Street, are spending the holidays at Palmerston North. Motor Camp. The Greytown motor camp at the Memorial Park was fully occupied over the holidays.
