SUCCESSFUL GATHERING AT WANGANUI.
MANY FEATURES OF INTEREST.
Arranged under the auspices of Ihe \ New Zealand Esperanto Association, i the 11th New Zealand Esperanto congress concludefl at Wanganui yesterday evening after a most successful three day session. 'Die Mayor of Wanganui, Kir W. J. Rogers, M L.C., openi ed the gathering and accorded a civic I welcome to the delegates of the various i Dominion clubs, including Masterton. ; and to visitors from as far as Christj church in the south and Whangarci in ! the north. An eminent and world- : famous Esperantist. Dr. F. J. Williams. ' Director of Medical Services in Papua, s was nisi present. An impressive ceremonial opening : was held mi Saturday evening, Mr B, I’otts president of the N.Z E A pre- ! siding. During the pi-weedings, the English and Esperanto anthems were i sung, delegates presented their res- ; cctive reports, tributes were paid to I-Nper.mte*.-: whose deaths had occurred throughiiut the year, and a resolu- ■ lion urgmg co-operation between the : Broadcasting Department and the i N.Z E .A was p-assed On New Year’s Day, the congress : was officially photographed and a busine -s meeting of the N Z.E.A. was held in the morning. ’lliere was a picnic at Virginia I-ake in the afternoon.
