GOATS ON HOLDSWORTH
DAMAGE TO BUSH EVIDENT.
ERADICATION OF ANIMATE IMPERATIVE.
The presence of goats on the Carrington side of the Moimt Holdsworth range was much, in evidence to par-
ties who recently searched the area (or the missing girl tram|x*r. Those well acquainted with the bush report that the goats are extending their range and are increasing considerably in numbers. In many places the undergrowth is being eaten out by these destnictive animals
The necessity of eradicating the goats before they get completely out of hand is obvious, as not only will the bush be seriously depleted of undergrowth if the animals are allowed to multiply, but the task will be much more difficult and more cosily if it is delayed. The Mount Holdsworth area has already suffered severely by the ravages iff tires, particularly one which, swept up a hill-;.de to the main track two or ihrvi* years ago. For a considerable distance, tin? scenery along the iraeit is completely spoilt and it wdl be many years before Nature repairs the damage.
