ALLEGATIONS OF ILLEGAL POOLING. CHARGES IN UNITED STATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, December 26. The Attorney-General, Mr Jackson, announced that he is instituting criminal proceedings under the Sherman Anti-Trust Act against the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Broadcast Music (Inc.), the National Broadcasting Corporation, and the Columbia Broadcasting System. The charges are based on alleged "illegal'’ pooling of very desirable copyright music for radio to eliminate competition and create a monopoly, “illegal price-fixing" and the restraining of the composers' right to bargain, and mutual boycotts by the American Society of Composers. Authors .and Publishers and the broadcasting chains, through Broadcast Music (Inc.) in an attempt Io monopolise the supply' of music.
