PERSONAL

Lieutenant N. J. T. Webster, N.Z.T.S., officer in charge number 8 military area, has been promoted to the rank of temporary captain while in charge of the area. The death occurred recently at his home in Wadestown, of Mr Walter Arnold Hawkins, aged 73, for some years Registrar of the Supreme Court and sheriff in Wellington. The Rev. Andrew Macfarlane has been granted leave of absence by the Dunedin Presbytery from the charge of Mosgiel till November 30, 1941, because of his appointment to a chaplaincy to the forces.
