It is suggested that tins should be read in conjunction with General Sir Archibald Wavell’s Christmas order of the day, in which he said that the operations had not ended and that further efforts m the same spirit as had marked the advance thus Jar ( would bring moie successes It may be taken for granted, a 8.8. C. commentator observes, that the British Commander-in-Chief is ensuring lor future operations the same success by the same preparations. On the Sudan front a British fighting patrol carried oil., a. successful raid in the area east of Kassala and inflicted losses on the enemy. . , ~ Abyssinians are attacking Italian troops and lines oi communication. For a long time they could only obtain arms bv raiding the Italians, but some of the most prominent leaders have latterly made contact with the British forces and Britain is implementing her promise to give all possible assistance to the Abyssinians, who have carried out many attacks on Italian lines of communication and in one instance defeated an entire battalion of Italian colonial infantry.
