HAWKE’S BAY V. WAIRARAPA SENIOR & JUNIOR GAMES. MATCHES ON PARK OVAL. Senior and junior cricket teams representing the Hawke’s Bay and Wairarapa Cricket Associations commenced matches on the Park Oval, Masterton, today. The weather is gloriously fine and the pitches are in splendid order. There is a large attendance of spectators who are being treated to a sparkling, free-scoring display by the Hawke’s Bay batsmen. Hawthorne and Mitchell, senioi- opening batsmen, gave the bowling a severe punishing and speedily ran up runs. Hawthorne, whose score is 27 not out, hit two 6’s and several 4’s. Both players showed clever placing. In the junior match J. Fitzpatrick and Bellworthy are bowling well for Wairarapa, Hawke’s Bay being two wickets down for 15.
