SWIMMING
MASTERTON CLUB SEASON OFFICIALLY OPENED LAST NIGHT. COMPETITION RESULTS. The official opening of the 1940-41 season of the Masterton Swimming Club took place in Masterton last night. The ceremony was performed by the patron. Mr H. E. Pither, there being a fair attendance. Although the weather was threatening and the rain held off a westerly wind made conditions unpleasant. There was keen competition and many close finishes were witnessed. The following are the results:— 25 yards, junior boys: K. Masters. 1; G. Master and L. Clark (equal). 2. Time, 20secs. 25 yards, junior girls: M. Stewart. .1; M. Cruickshank. 2. Time. 29sees. 25 yards intermediate girls: N. Stains. 1: M. Simonson. 2: A. Stains. 3. Time, 24 2-ssecs. 50 yards intermediate boys: F. Sexton. 1: G. Whyborn. 2: D. Parsons. 3. Time. 3Hsccs. 25 yards girls’ breaststroke: M. Simonson. 1: A. Stains. 2; N. Stains, 3. Time, 24 l-ssecs. 50 yards men: T. Burns. 1; G. Whyborn. 2; J. Barnes. 3. Time. 31 secs. 50 yards breaststroke, men: B. McHattie. 1: J. Barnes. 2: D. Parsons. 3. Time. -Usees. Boys' dive: J. Williams. 18 points, 1; K. Masters and D. Stewart, 15 points, equal. 2. Girls’ dive: N. Stains. 21 points. 1; M. Cruickshank. 16 points. 2. Men's dive: E. Braggins. 21 points. I’, J.
