A thousand women are' employed in the London Transport Board’s new shelter refreshment service. Every afternoon six “tube refreshment specials” leave six depots. They have been laden overnight with seven tons of food and dispense 30.000 buns, 20.000 pieces of cake, 13,000 gallons or tea and large quantities of soup, sausages and pies.
