ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS ■» 'loyal heart of oak lodge. (“Times-Age” Special.) Sister M. ' E. Eagle, N.G., presided over a good attendance of members of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge last evening, including visitors from the Loyal Eketahuna and Masterton lodges, who were given a cordial welcome by the N.G. Accounts amounting to £29 3s lOd were passed for payment, including £l2 for sick pay. The officers elect were impressively installed into office for the ensuing six months by P.G. Bro. R. Farrow, of Eketahuna, a member of the Wellington District Managa'ment Committee. All returned thanks for their election. P.G. Bro. R. Baikie, of Loyal Masterton Lodge, and a member of the Wellington District Management Committee acted as conductor. At the conclusion of the ceremony, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to P.G. Bro. Farrow for coming to Carterton to conduct the installation ceremony. Bro. Farrow presented the retiring I.P.N.G. Bro. C. C. Deller, with a framed lodge diploma and congratulating the member upon his duties while passing through the various offices of the lodge. Bro. Deller suitably returned thanks. Other officers were elected as follows:—R.S.N.G., Sister K. Mitchell; L.S.N.G., Sister M. E. Mellish; R.S.V.G., Bro. C. C. Deller. At the conclusion of business the visitors were entertained at supper. PLUNKET SOCIETY MEETING OF CARTERTON BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Carterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday. There were present: Mesdames Wells, Callender, Dyer, Udy and Trapp. ' An apology was received from Mrs Armstrong. The nurse reported for November as follows: —New cases, 5. Visits to homes, new cases, 5; old cases, 50; older children, 15. Visits to rooms, adults, 84; babies, 81; older children 17; telephone calls, 13; test feeds at rooms, 1; test scales lent, 3 times. Correspondence from Dunedin relative to the proposed increase of salaries of nurses, was read and discussed. It was decided to send £5 to the Truby King Karitane Home. Accounts amounting to £33 8s lOd were passed for payment. At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs Wells extended seasonal greetings to the committee.
WOMEN’S DIVISION CARD PARTY. The weekly card party held in connection with the Women’s Division of the- Farmers’ Union for patriotic purposes, took place in the Band Room on Saturday evening.’ There was a large attendance. The prizes were won as follows: —Ladies: Mrs C. Holland, 1; Mrs M. Ticehurst, 2. Men: Mrs O'Halloran, 1; E. Phelps, 2. Home Guard. The first parade of the Home Guard will be held in the Band Room, Carterton, when some 30 men will parade. Fresh enrolments will be taken at the hall tonight. Carterton Swimming Club. The annual meeting of the Carterton Amateur Swimming Club will be held on Thursday next at 7.45 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Boy Meets with Accident. A son of Mr and Mrs K. Rowe, of Carterton, met with a painful accident on Saturday. He was playing with other boys near his home and received a severe cut on a leg. He was taken to Dr. R. N. Campbell’s surgery where it was found necessary to insert eight stitches. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs V/. C. Robertson and daughter have left Carterton for their new home in Wanganui. P.G. Bro. B. Seddon, who has been stationed at Lower Hutt for some years, has returned io Masterton. He was a visitor to Carterton Lodge of Odd Fellows last evening. Heart-to-Heart Appeal. The proceeds from a presentation of “The Ghost Breakers” at the Regent Theatre, Carterton, tomorrow night, will be donated to the Heart-to Heart appeal. ____________
