POLITICIANS AT ODDS

FEDERAL LABOUR LEADER | & DR. EV ATT DIFFERENCES OVER BUDGET. AID MAKING PARLIAMENT WORKABLE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, SYDNEY. December 8. Relations between the Federal Opposition Leader. Mr Curtin, and Dr. Evatt. of the same party, are, according to the “Sunday Sun.” becoming strained. Dr. Evatt led the section of Labour members last week which aimed at securing further Budget concessions from the Government. Mr Curtin, in the course of a statement yesterday, said the Opposition regretted it could not secure a larger measure of its policy. Nevertheless, he had kept firmly in mind the obligation to make 1 Parliament workable. Dr. Evatt, replying, said: “I agree it is the duty of the present Parliament to become a workable institution. This means that Parliament itself should exert the fullest control over the Government. It certainly, does not mean that the present Government should be allowed to continue in office."
