FEATHERSTON

WEDDING SADLER—WILKIE. (“Times-Age” Special.) A wedding of local interest was celebrated at St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, on Monday. The contracting parties were Violet Joan, eldest daughter of Mr A. Wilkie, and the late Mrs Wilkie, of Hastings, and Sergeant John Hockenhull Sadler, R.N.Z.A.F., youngest son of Mr and Mrs W. H. Sadler, Tauherenikau. The church had been beautifully decorated by girl friends of the bride.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a model gown of cream silk crepe embroidered with eyelet designs in gold. Her embroidered veil fell from a spray of orange blossoms in graceful folds over the long train of her gown. She carried a beautiful sheath of Christmas lilies and maidenhair fern. Miss Alina Wilkie, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore a gown of rose pink silk georgette and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Little Miss Rosalind Wilkie, sister of the bride, made a charming flower girl. She was attired in a dainty frock of floral organdie and carried a basket of roses. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr Len Henderson, of Hastings. , , ~ . A reception was afterwards held. in the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ rooms, Mr and Mrs Wilkie Senr., and Mrs Sadler received the guests. Mrs Wilkie wore a handsome black model gown and carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas and carnations. Mrs Sadler, .mother of the bridegroom was attired in a navy ensemble and carried a bouquet of mauve sweet peas and cainationo. The bride’s travelling dress was a duck-egg blue wool ensemble. She wore a white turban and veil with accessories to tone. Sergeant and Mrs Sadler later left on a tour of the North Island amid the congratulations of their many friends.

Personal. Mr and Mrs C. J. Nix and Miss Patricia Nix and Mrs Sadler have returned from Hastings.
