A third of the way has been passed towards the goal of the Million All Purposes Appeal. Major Abel, hon Dominion organiser, stated today that £367,000 was accounted for, and he was well satisfied with the progress made. The procedure being followed in England to distribute comforts and generally provide for the welfare of the men of the New Zealand fighting forces is sketched by Major F. Waite, overseas ■ commissioner for the National Patriotic' Fund Board, in a letter to the secretary of the board, Mr Faydcn. Major Waite points out that difficulties have been increased by enemy action in interrupting communication by quick methods, and as far as possible he has decentralised distribution. A considerable amount has been spent on sports equipment. “We simply have to do this to relieve the boredom of waiting for the Hun,” Major Waite observes.
