MAURICEVILLE WEST
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE COMPETITION WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) A meeting of the Mauriceville West Women’s Institute was held on Tuesday at the residence of Mrs lan Cameron, the president, who presided over a fair attendance of members. Members were reminded that their subscriptions towards the soldiers’ parcels are again due and should be paid to Mrs J. Baine without delay. It was decided that the February meeting would take the form of a picnic, details to be arranged later. Nominations for the committee for next year should be handed to the secretary not later than the February meeting. A very interesting travel talk was given by Mrs McMillan, of Auckland, who recently returned from a world tour. Mrs Cameron and Miss R. Mortensen demonstrated artificial respiration. Votes of thanks, proposed by Mrs H. Myers, were passed to these ladies. The best bloom competition was won by Miss J. Larsen with Mrs Cameron and Miss Mortensen (equal) second An amusing game, arranged by Mrs Baine, was won by Miss Mortensen. The meeting closed with the s/nging of God Save the King and a vote of thanks to Mrs Cameron.
LADIES’ SEWING GUILD EUCHRE PARTY. A euchre party was held on Tuesday evening in the Foresters’ Hall by the Mauriceville West Ladies’ Sewing Guild. Prizes were won by Miss Mulligan and Mr D. Johansen, and a consolation prize by Mr and Mrs H. Trass Senr. Supper was served by the ladies, thus concluding a very happy evening.
