MARTINBOROUGH

SCHOOL COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Martinborough District High School Committee was held last night, when there were present: Messrs E. C. Sadd (chairman). K. Arthur (secretary), R. P. George, R. Lawrence. G. P. Cotter. F. B. Wright, and the headmaster (Mr D. E. Pryor). The headmaster reported that the attendances last month was as follows: —Primary roll number, 195; average attendance, 176; secondary. 39 and 34, respectively. The school doctor and nurse had visited the school during the month. It was proposed to hold a display of school work when Mr McMurtrie, Assistant Director of Education, would give an address. The visiting committee reported that the grass in the schoolground needed cutting and the trees topped. It was decided that the work be carried out.

Accounts amounting to £l7 9s 5d were passed for payment.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

BREAKUP AND PRIZE-GIVING.

Last evening about 75 children attending St. Andrew’s Sunday School sat down in the Parish Hall to tea provided by the parents and friends. Subsequently a concert was given and greatly enjoyed. Items were contributed by Noeline Gray, Nancy Harris Jack Harris, Dawn and Ethel Malton, Charmaine Davidson, Mabel Clarke. Betty Henderson, Meryl Cook, Sue Cook, Margaret McCardle, Dorothy Lynch, Pat Lynch, and Drannent Malton.
