GALA DAY
GATHERING ON SATURDAY. MANY ATTRACTIONS PROMISED. Practically all arrangements for the great gala day at the Masterton ?aik cn Saturday next have been completed and the committee now feels that fun public support will result in a substantial increase in the fund. The ladies committee has had promises of many prizes for sideshows and mystery parcels, but could do with many more yet. Donations of cakes and sweets are also solicited. These may be notified at ‘ John Bull Calls” Perry Street, Masterton, phone 1715. The general feeling among the members of the committee is that the returns to date are not a correct index of Masterton’s capacity nor its willingness to contribute. No compulsion is either oesired or intended in any appeal made so far and any suggested amount for contribution has been used, only as a working basis by the organisers to endeavour to obtain equality. The committee would also like it generally 1-nown that no organiser receives anything from the fund. To advertise the appeal still further and to popularise it, a strong committee has been set up to arrange attractive items for a period of fun and frolic on Friday December 13, in Queen Street.
