CARE OF THE SKIN. LANA TURNER’S METHODS. “Care of the skin is one of the most important daily routines in the life of an actress,” declared Lana Turner. “And there is no more reason why she should cleanse her face in the same manner each day, than that she should eat the same food, or wear the same dress.” The young Metro-Gold-wyn-Maycr actress has very definite ideas on the subject, and believes that variety in treatment is beneficial to the complexion. “I used five different methods in freshening my face,” she explains. “First, there is the good old soap and water treatment which is necessary to remove make-up. This should be followed by applying a light cream to prevent the skin from becoming dry. A good cleansing cream should be used frequently, but always make sure every trace of the first application of cream is removed before applying another one. When, after a long day’s work, I feel my skin has that grimy feeling, I find nothing turns the trick as well as a grainy preparation to remove every trace of dirt from the pores.”
Miss Turner states that when she arrives home late and hasn't the time to cleanse her skin thoroughly, she relies on moist cleansing pads that are treated with a penetrating preparation that makes the face feel “brand new.” “A good tonic,” recommends the actress, “is slapping the face with a pad of cotton that has been saturated with ice water. Follow this variety of facial cleansers, and you will take five important steps toward skin beauty.”
