TURF NEWS AND NOTES
CURRENT TOPICS FROM STABLE AND COURSE Training Operations at Opaki (BY “THE GRAFTER.”) The Woodville meeting on Saturday and Monday next will be of interest to local sportsmen because of the fact that Masterton horses will be among the competitors. Two recent winners in Counter and Defy are continuing to stride along satisfactorily, and if the conditions are suitable should show a profit on the trip. Both have done good gallops this week and are very fit. Cheerful Lady is a winning prospect as she has shown good form with the colours up, while her track work this week has been quite good. Gay Fox has been shaping better since his third to Sir Amyas and King Toast at Riccarton last month, and has impressed in his gallops at Opaki.
