Mrs J. Woodhouse, of Masterton. is visiting Pongaroa. Mrs R. C. Satherley has returned to Pongaroa after a visit to Levin. Mrs S. Reid. Auckland, is a visitor to Masterton and is among guests staying at the Hotel Midland. Mrs E. Carroll, Wellington, who has been visiting her mother. Mrs J. L. Murray, Church Street. Masterton, has returned home. Mrs H. Alexander, who has recently been staying at Kent House, Masterton, has returned to her home in Wellington. Mrs Murray Fuller. Wellington, who is visiting Masterton in connection with the exhibition of New Zealand Arts, is a guest at the Hotel Midland. Mr and Mrs J. Gillion, who have been on a visit to Masterton. have retlirned to their home ' in New Plymouth. Miss E. Brockett, who has been relieving on the staff of the Pahiatua District High School for some months, has taken up a similar post at the Masterton Central School. The death has occurred of Mrs Eliza Charlotte Gould, wife of Professor W. H. Gould, Moana Road, Wellington. Mrs Gould, who was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, has been a' resident of Wellington for about 40 years. She leaves a husband, four sons and one daughter. Dr Elizabeth Gregory has been appointed professor of home science at the University of Otago in succession to Professor A. G. Strong, who will retire from the position at the end of February. Dr Gregory’s appointment as a professor of the university of New Zealand has been approved by the senate.
