GIRL GUIDES ENJOYABLE ENTERTAINMENT (“Times-Age” Special.) On Saturday afternoon the Girl Guides and seme of the Brownies presented a very entertaining programme to their parents and friends. The Guides tastefully decorated the interior of the hall with Iceland poppies, anemones and rhododendrons. The programme was opened with the "Welcome Song" by the Guides, followed by “There's Never Any Trouble.” Hems by the Brownies were: recitations, Audrey Johanson. Nancy Petersen, and Alma Ryan; song by Kathleen Ryan, and a pianoforte solo by Joanna Anderson Items by the Guides were: Pianoforte, Nancy Fordyce; recitations. Muriel Gray and Joyce Tolley; pianoforte, Sybil Walton; "Cheery Song,” with Rae Fraser as soloist, was rendered by the G lides and also “Wings Over the Navy,” with Isobel Waterreus as soloist. The Guides sang several other songs end rounds, as they would round a camp fire, a particularly suitable song being "Hiawatha.”

The accompanistes for other songs were Joy Hornblow and Nancy Fordyce. A play entitled "Doris in Badgeland,” which showed to advantage the work entailed in gaining badges, was well carried out by the Guides, with Isobel Waterreus in the leading part. Others who participated were Muriel Gray (Cook), Rae Fraser (Ambulance), Jean Waterreus (Gymnast), Jo’,ce Tolley (Dancer), Niomi Farrow (Gardener), Joan Farrow (Handywoman), Nancy Fordyce (Housekeeper), Audrey Hansen (Housecraft), Verna Cooper (Needlewoman), Joy Hornblow (Musician), Patrol Leader. June Hancock; Captain, Sybil Walton. Miss M. McAnulty (Captain) and Miss N. Hancock (Lieutenant) were in charge of the entertainment which reflected considerable credit upon them for the training they are giving the Guides.

HEART-TO-HEART APPEAL FURTHER DONATIONS. Further returns have come to hand from District Patriotic Committees dealing with the Heart-to-Heart Appeal. Included in the list set out below is the balance of Nireaha’s effort, which has reached the final figure of £l5O 10s, and also the total from Hamua district amounting to £l3O 12s.
