A Narrow Win. In a slower run race over a longer distance, Autosweep moved up fast from the five and a half furlong post in the Rongotea Hack at Feilding yesterday to take charge at the half-mile. ■Laughing Song went to the front with him and they led into the straight to fight out a strenuous finish. Laughing Song was doing it the better just short of the post, but in the last stride Broughton got a final kick out of his mount to win by the narrowest of margins. Chief Lord, who was well back in,most of the running and not getting too good a passage, was a fair third, with Segra fourth, and Ra Houhou next, then Te Orc and Dynasty from Royal Sign. Dynasty was fairly handy 011 the rails for four or five furlongs, but when the pace increased with Autosweep going up to the lead he began to drift. Fnally, when Star Zone fell on the home turn. Dynasty. Io es- 1 cape falling over him, hurdled the fallen horse and Jost more ground.

Good Effort By Friesland. Superior class won the St. Andrew’s Handicap at Feilding yesterday for Friesland. As on the first day, he was last out of the straight, but with a solid pace in front being cut out by Siglow and Lord Cavendish, Friesland was able to make up his ground without check. On the turn he was within striking distance of the leading bunch, which still was Siglow and Lord Cavendish in front, from Colossal Chief, Ruatiti, Hunting Cat and Areas, but once in the stretch Friesland settled down to very resolute galloping and gradually forged ahead. Old Suney, who was well back in the running, and still near the rear on the turn, came home with a very .strong run to cut Siglow out of second money with Lord Cavendish well up just heading Colossal Chief, then Areas, Cherry Bay and Ruatiti and a gap to Kilometre Areas got a fine passage on the rails throughout just in behind the leading bunch, but at the end it proved a trap from which he was never able to extricate himself. He was always going well, and would have been hard. Siglow ran a great race, doing all the donkey work and just missing a dividend.

Saxon Tor. Saxon Tor, in his only start this season. won the Marton Railway Handicap easily from Amigo and Nigger Boy. It is intended to race him at Ellerslie this month and. as he lias been largely cured of his hard pulling, his appealance will'invest open sprints with interest.

To Be Raced Over Hurdles. Streamline has rejoined the team oi G. Ridgway. He is carrying a deal of condition and is to be taken along slowly with a view to racing'in hurdle events at Riccarton next Easter. It is probable he will be put to steeplechasing during the winter.

Serenata. The New Zealand Cup winner, Serenata, will not race over the holidays. Her next engagement, probably will be in the Wellington Cup on January 16. Anglo-Irish. Anglo-Irish, probably the first of the stock of Sir Simper to race, was responsible for an attractive performance at Invercargill. Missing the maiden class to start in a hack handicap, he lost ground through greenness at the barrier, but quickly made up his leeway and won decisively. Anglo-Irish is owned by Hazlett brothers, and was making his initial appearance. Woodville Rehandicaps. The following rehandicaps for tho first day of the Woodville District Jockey Club’s meeting on Saturday, have been declared by Mr H. Coyle:— Bolton Handicap.—Friesland, from 8.9 to 9.1. Borough Handicap.—Dainty Dell, from 8.4 to 8.9. RACING FIXTURES Dec. 6, 7. —Whangarei. Dec. 7, 9. —Woodville. Dec. 14. —Otaki-Maori. Dec. 14. —Waipa. Dec. 14. —Hororata. Dec. 21. —Manawatu.
