Mrs Eric Orr. was a Puketapu visitor to Martinborough on Saturday. Mrs S. Cumming, of Worksop Road, Masterton, is on a visit to relatives in Auckland. Mrs Parata Olsen. Petone, is visiting her sister-in-law, Mrs W. Olsen, Eketahuna. Mrs Royston Campbell, of Havelock North, spent the weekend in Martiniborough. A Hastings visitor to Martinborough on Saturday was Miss Marjorie Ebbett. Miss Ann Young, Mt. Stewart, died in Feilding last week, at the age of 66 years. The eldest daughter of the late George and Jane Young, Miss Young was born in Clogher, County Tyrone, Ireland, coming to New Zealand with her parents in 1877. Landing at Wellington, they went to Mt. Stewart. Miss Young was educated in Sanson and Awahuri and later took up the management of a farm on her own account. The notable record of having been 70 years married was attained yesterday by Mr and Mrs John Coombs. Calder Avenue, North East Valley, who have lived practically all their lives in Dunedin. In fact. Mrs Coombs, whp came out to New Zealand in 1849, has the added distinction of having the longest period of residence in Otago of any white woman. She has been living in Dunedin for nearly 92 years. The years sit lightly on the shoulders of the two pioneers, and no one would take them for nonagenarians. Mrs Coombs, who was Miss Elizabeth Boyes before her marriage, was born in Edinburgh in the house of John Knox, the famous preacher.
