SITTING OF WAIRARAPA COMMITTEE APPEALS AGAINST SERVICE IN TERRITORIALS. MANY CASES DEALT WITH. A sitting of the Wairarapa District Man Power Committee to hear appeals against Territorial service was held in Masterton today. The chairman, Mr T. Jordan, presided. There were also present Messrs L. T. Daniell and F. Cole. The following cases were heard (all the appeals are on the grounds of public interest and undue hardship): Francis Patrick Cooper (co-appel-lant, Mr J. C. Cooper)—appeal adjourned until March 15, 1941. An appeal by Emma Cameron on behalf of Bruce Douglas Cameron was adjourned until March 15, 1941. Mr R. R. Burridge .appeared on behalf of the co-appellant. Champion Bakeries (Mr N. G. Whiteman) appealed on behalf of Hugh Cameron. The appeal was adjourned until December 31, 1940. An appeal by Mr Alfred Caselberg on behalf of Reginald Bertram Duffy was adjourned until March 15, 1941, the appellant not to be called up for Territorial service in the meantime.

An appeal by the Public Trustee (Mr F. M. Whyte) on behalf of the Buick Estate to have Gordon Vincent Buick exempted until May 31, 1941, was dismissed, the appellant not to be called up for Territorial service until March 15, 1941. Donald Brennan McLaughlin (coappellant Phyllis Roberta Bunny)—appeal adjourned until May 31, 1941. An appeal by Frank Edward Busch (co-appellant Mary Busch, Mr S. R. Gawith) was adjourned until May 31, 1941. A similar adjournment was granted Neil Stanley Luttrell (co-appellant Elizabeth Luttrell, represented by Mr Gawith).

Appeals by Gilbert Munro (co-ap-pellant Mr G. O. Sutherland, Mr Gawith) and Roy Newman Shaw (coappellant Mr James Shaw) were dismissed, the appellants not to be called up for Territorial service’ until March 31, 1941.

An appeal by Annie Joblin on behalf of Kenneth Fredrick Joblin was dismissed, the appellant not to be called up until March. 31, 1941. A similar decision was made in the case of an appeal by David Antill Gawith (co-ap-pellanty-Mr A. C. Gawith). An adjournment until May 31, 1941, was granted in the case of an appeal by William Dalziell on behalf of Reuben William Searanke. An appeal by Arthur Percy Hoare (Mr Gawith) was dismissed, the appellant not to be called up before April .30, 1941. An appeal by John O'Leary Peters was dismissed, the appellant not to be called up before May 31, 1941.
