STATE THEATRE
“STAR DUST.” Boasting what has been called the most original entertainment idea in years, the 20th Century-Fox film “Star Dust” stars lovely Linda Darnell finally at the State Theatre tonight, in a thrilling story that well might be the story of her own exciting rise to fame. Linda is cast as a plucky small-town girl in Hollywood scrapping for her place in the sun. Others featured in the star-studded cast are Roland Young, John Payne, William Gargan, Mary Beth Hughes,' Mary Healy and Donald Meek.
“EARTHBOUND.” Exciting drama, with surprising adventures of a ghost, ‘abounds in “Earthbound,” the 20th Century-Fox film starring Warner Baxter and Andrea Leeds, which will be shown tomorrow night at the State Theatre. Baxter is murdered early in the film and continues on the screen in the form of a wraith-like ghost who walks through doors 'and stone walls. His behaviour as a ghost provides many smiles. He finds it hard to realise that he isn’t alive until people walk through him —and a mirror fails to reveal his image. His usual masterful self, Baxter turns in a splendid job of acting while Andrea Leeds per-1 forms as only she can, registering successfully in a difficult role that brings out her remarkable dramatic ability.
