WORLD’S “STRONGEST MAN”

WANTS TO JOIN BRITISH ARMY. An all-in wrestler who calls himself the "strongest man in the world." wants to join the British Army. He is 22-stone Da Zevs, a Cypriot and therefore a British citizen. He says his weight ought to make all the difference and he would like to wrestle with Hitler personally. “I want to get at him," he .said in London, "and just crush him like that." And he locked his great hands together over an imaginary throat. He has been in England for three years and has wrestled in London. Liverpool,* Brighton and Glasgow. But so far no one has asked him to join (he Army. He thinks it is because strong men are exempted as a reserved occupation. A Ministry of Labour official denied this: "On the contrary we are looking for all the strong men we can get.” Da Zevs is making a tour of the various services. He favours the infantry. because he thinks that would suit him better. But unfortunately, he speaks only broken English, broken French and a lot of Greek.
