ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ANNUAL INSPECTION HELD ; LAST NIGHT. | ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER IMPRESSED. The annual inspection of the St. John Ambulance took place in Masterton last night. The inspection was carried out by Mr W. W. Dutton, assistant commissioner and officer commanding the Wellington district. Others in the official party were, Mr J. Hislop, district superintendent, Miss McKnight, and Mrs Russell, district officers. There was a full attendance of V.A.D.’s, St. John Nursing Division. Cadet Nursing Division, St. John Ambulance Division and Cadet Ambulance Division members. Members of each division gave a demonstration of triangular and roller bandaging and members of the Senior and Cadet Ambulance Division demonstrated hand-seat drill. A stretcher team under the charge of Sergeant Thomas gave an excellent display of team work. Mr Dutton said the first impression was always the best. When he came on to the parade that night, everyone was looking smart, steady and alert. He then knew that the work of the evening would be all that could be desired. The work was well and efficiently done and the officers were to be congratulated upon their able instruction and the members upon the attention they had paid to their officers. The clean white bandages and the way they were applied were a credit to all concerned. It was very gratifying to see so many of the nurses wearing the V.A.D. uniform and he knew from the work which they had done that night that they would be a great help and credit in their hospital work. It was gratifying to know that the men were also doing their part abroad. The men were to be complimented on their stretcher work and seat drill and the manner in which the bandaging was done for that purpose. “I wish you ths compliments of the season and a bright and prosperous New Year with the hope that next time we meet the war will be over and we will meet in peace," said Mr Dutton.
