King Edward VII.. though ho would certainly have resented having it bombed by Germans, was by no means an admirer of Buckingham Palace. “What a magnificent workhouse it would have made!" he once suggested Io Lord Farquhar. and he constantly deplored the dingy appearance of the exterior.
