PLEA BY THE POPE
FOR JUST & LASTING PEACE. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 12.20 p.m.) VATICAN CITY, November 24. The Pope, at High Mass in St Peters, appealed to Christian communities to pray for a just and lasting peace. “It seems that the world is not big enough to contain the aspirations of man,” he said. “We have worked for peace with justice for all. We cry out in pain, invoking peace for humanity from God.” The Pope today began a week’s fast as a sign of sorrow .for the suffering caused by the war.
