AGED STATESMAN

DEATH OF PRINCE SAIONJI. According to a 8.8. C. announcement, the death has occurred in Japan, at the age of 92. of Prince Saionji, a former Prime Minister of Japan, and at one time Japanese Minister in Vienna and Berlin. Other positions held by the late Prince Saionji included the following: President of the Privy Council, vice-president of the House of Peers, twice Minister for Education, Minister for Foreign Affairs and twice Prime Minister. Among many decorations held by him was that of the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. Prince Saionji was regarded as the last of the Japanese Elder Statesmen.
