CAR DESTROYED

O CATCHES FIRE ON WERAITI HILL. A sedan car owned by Mr J. Payton, Mt. Bruce Road, Masterton, was destroyed by fire on the Weraiti Hill on Saturday night at about 9 o'clock. Mr Payton, accompanied by a friend, was proceeding up the road on the Masterton side of the hill when the car stalled. When efforts were being made to restart it the car caught fire and was destroyed. Mr- Payton suffered some burns. • SECOND CAR BURNT. ' Another car standing on the Bideford Road neai- the Te Ore Ore Meeting House was damaged by fire on Saturday night just before midnight. It was a tourer model but the owner is not known.
