FLOWER SHOW
FEATHERSTON DISPLAY SPLENDID ARRAY OF BLOOMS. LIST OF PRIZEWINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Featherston Horticultural and Industrial Society's Show was held at Featherston yesterday, there being a splendid display of blooms despite the rough weather. The show was opened by the Mayor (Mr J. W. Card) who congratulated the exhibitors on the excellent display. The show compared very favourably with former exhibitions. The members of the society deserve congratulation in connection with their work in carrying on the show in a difficult war period. A beautiful display of floral work was exhibited by Miss Jean Tutbury. The patriotic stall was in charge of Mrs R. Hardy, and realised the sum of £9 14s 6d. The cake donated by • Mrs Carter was won by Miss Harp, and the competition for the lamb given by Mr Wilkinson resulted: Mrs J. King, 1; Mr R. Matthews, 2; Mr A. McLeod, 3. The cups were presented by Mr J. W. Card as follows: —Mrs Elgar’s Cup (cut flowers), Mrs Arch Clark; Rose Bowl, Mrs Arch Clark; Pansy Bowl, Mr H. Clark; Bidwill Cup (sweet peas).
