GREYHOUND RACING
ARRANGEMENTS FOR MONDAY. CHAMPION DOGS COMPETING. Entries for the big greyhound racing meeting of the Wairarapa Coursing Club at the Akura enclosure on Monday next, the King's Birthday, closed last night with very satisfactory fields. Champion greyhounds from cutside districts will be trying conclusions with crack local dogs, and a splendid afternoon's sport is assured. The New Zealand champion hurdle dog, Flash Diamond, is competing in the open hurdles and it is worth the admission fee to see this wonderful dog flying over the obstacles. All Cash, winner of the New Zealand champion maiden flat at Wanganui last season, will be an interesting competitor in the open flat event for the Ice Cream Cup. Most encouraging of all is the big entry (necessitating two heats) in the sapling event, which is for pups under 12 months. Patrons are reminded that the events are held on the coursing grounds at Akura and the first contest is timed to start at 1.30 p.m.
A BR.EAK-AWAY. NORTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION BEING FORMED. The increasing number of greyhound racing clubs in the North Island and Ihe growing dissatisfaction over the control of dates by the National Coursing Association, whose headquarters are in Dunedin, has culminated in the North Island, clubs deciding to secede from the National Coursing Association and form a separate North Island Association. A meeting of delegates from the main North Island clubs will be held in Masterton at 10.30 a.m. on Monday next to implement this decision.
