Peter’s evening suit was rather oldfashioned. His figure was not one which showed clothes to advantage either. One evening as he stood in the vestibule of an hotel wailing for his wife, a tall, pompous man came up. “I say. young man. are you the head waiter?” he drawled. What Peter lacked in bearing he made up in quick thinking. “No.” he said, “but I heard him tell a young fellow today that lie didn't want any more applications for the job.”
