STORE WETHERS

LARGE CONSIGNMENT FROM ORONGORONGO. KEEN DEMAND IN NORTHERN DISTRICTS. Owing to an extraordinary demand for store wethers in the Waikato and northern districts large stock movements from the Wairarapa have taken place in the past few weeks. A special train from Featherston passed through Masterton last night carrying 4,400 4-th. store wethers consigned by the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Company on behalf of Mr Eric Riddiford, of “Orongorongo,” to the Hunterville district. The sheep were mustered and brought by way of Western Lake and trucked at Featherston. It is understood that store wethers are realising higher prices than are being obtained in the Waikato for fat sheep for immediate export.
