FEATHERSTON

SALE OF GOLD CUPS IN AID OF PATRIOTIC FUND. (“Times-Age” Special.) Several very valuable gold cups that were won by the horses of the late Mr Chas. Elgar, of “Fernside,” have been sold at the request of Mrs Elgar, and the proceeds will be donated to the Patriotic Fund. Fernside Garden. It is anticipated that, providing the weather keeps fine, there will be a large attendance of the public at Fernside next Sunday afternoon. A small charge of Is for adults and 6d for children will be made and hot water will be provided free. Leading up to “Fernside,” the beautiful drive over a mile long with lines of oak trees, which are now at their very best, is a sight seldom seen in this part of the world. The garden, of course, is a beautiful sight. The proceeds will be devoted to the Patrfiotic Fund. A bus will leave the Post Office at 1.30 p.m. for “Fernside.” Military Ball. A meeting of the Military Ball Committee was held at Mrs Q. Donald’s residence on Monday afternoon when the supper arrangements were finalised. There is every indication that the ball will be an outstanding success and dancing patrons should reserve the date ((Friday, November 22). Personal. Mrs Barry is paying a short visit to Featherston before she returns to Dunedin.
