GREYTOWN

SWIMMING CLUB ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Greytown Swimming Club was held in the Crown Theatre on Monday evening. Mr H. G. Carter was voted to the chair in the absence of Mr J. F. Thompson. The annual report stated that during the past season 49 school children had gained their swimming certificates. The season opened with a credit of £4 Ils 5d and closed with a credit of £4 Is 4d. Practically all the senior swimmers were on active service. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr W. A. Tate; president, Mr J. F. Thompson; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Keltie, F. J. Brooks, A. W. Horton. H. Walden, F. Dennes, C. Brown and F. Dewhurst: secretary. Miss N. Keltie; treasurer, Mr W. Brown; general committee, Messrs I. Falconor, I. Keltie, R. Pickard. M. Keltie and J. Reid: club captain. Mr L. Falconor; vice-captain, Mr C. Workman: local officer. Mr R. Pickard; centre delegates, Messrs W. G. West and N. Oldershaw; council delegate. Mr H. C. Trotman; ladies’ committee, Mesdames H. Keltie. R. Anker, F. Dennes, C. W. Brown and R. Pickard: handicapper, Mr R. Pickard. The subscriptions are as follow: — Senior, ss; ladies, 3s. Intermediate. 3s; juniors, 2s. The opening date was left to the committee to arrange.

It was decided to hold a special carnival during the season, and that all profits in the course of the year be given to patriotic funds. The special facilities granted to the stall' of the Greytown Hospital last year are to be continued this season. Home Guard Meeting. The meeting called for Friday evening at the Town Hall for the formation of a Home Guard at Greytown should be well attended. The local branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association and the local Rifle Club are strongly supporting the proposal. The matter of equipment and training will be fully discussed at the meeting.
