The death has occurred of Sir Herbert Nicholls. a former Tasmanian Chief Justice and Lieutenant-Gover-nor of Tasmania, aged 73. Sir Herbert Nicholls was AttorneyGeneral 1903-4; Member for Central Hobart 1900-9; Puisne Judge 1909-14; Chief Justice 1914-37; Administrator of Tasmania 1917. 1920 and 1922-24; Lieut.Gocvernor 1924-33; Acting Governor 1931-33. He was the author of various constitutional pamphlets, essays and lectures on government and law.
