£1,000,000 APPEAL
THE PATRIOTIC FUND. CONTRIBUTION OF ONE DAY'S PAY. The committee set up to deal with the raising of Masterton's quota of £B,OOO for the National Patriotic Fund has completed its preparations for the first shot in the campaign. This consists of a letter to all employers andV. employees asking each and every one to contribute one day’s pay. ■ It is felt by the committee that this is the fairest way of obtaining equality of sacrifice. In addition, the organisers hope that those who can afford to do so will give more. In. pay envelopes this week employees will receive notices setting out the need for contributing and asking them to agree to the deduction of one day’s pay. The organisers hope that those employees who are not approached in this way will send a contribution of one day's pay or its equivalent to the office of the appeal, "John Bull Calls". Perry Street, ’phone 1715. This will not bo the only effort to be made. Many other projects arc in hand, but until the drive for a day's pay has been completed, the committee does not wish to distract attention from it.
